Concerns Raised by Norwich City Goalkeeper Angus Gunn Over Contract Communication
Angus Gunn, the goalkeeper for Norwich City, has voiced his worries regarding the lack of updates from the club about a potential new contract. With his current agreement set to expire at the end of this season, Gunn noted that discussions about a renewal have yet to take place.
In a recent conversation with BBC Radio Norfolk, Gunn shared his concerns, stating, “I haven’t received any communication from the club, which is quite concerning. I get asked about my future frequently, but honestly, I have no answers to provide because there’s been no outreach from them.”
The Scotland international is currently dealing with a hamstring injury that has prevented him from joining the national team. Nevertheless, he remains optimistic that contract negotiations will commence in the near future. Gunn highlighted the necessity for clarity in a professional player’s career to effectively plan ahead.
“Above all, I just hope for some clarity – I have a family to think about, and I need to consider what the future holds,” Gunn remarked. “For any professional athlete, having that clarity is crucial to know where you’ll be heading next.”
Despite the ongoing uncertainty, Gunn is open to the possibility of continuing his journey at Carrow Road, where he has made a notable impact since joining. The 29-year-old, who is the son of Norwich goalkeeping legend Bryan Gunn, took a moment to reflect on his experiences with the club and expressed appreciation for the chances he has received.
“If the club approaches me with the opportunity to discuss my future and indicate that they want me to stay, I would certainly be interested in having that conversation,” Gunn stated. “This is where I was born, where I grew up, and of course, it’s the club I support.”
Having previously played on loan for Norwich and returning in 2021 from Southampton, Gunn has solidified his role as a pivotal player for the team, racking up 166 appearances and achieving 44 clean sheets.
“I owe a great deal to Norwich in my career, and many people associated with the club have played a significant role in my journey here,” Gunn concluded, emphasizing his strong bond with the club and his eagerness to continue aiding its success.
